Our Story

King and Natalie own and operate Santacruz Dressage together. Their goal was to create an environment for their clients where they could provide the very best care and management, along with correct, fair, and compassionate training to develop happy and confident horses in their program. They are proud to feel that they have accomplished that and more with Santacruz Dressage.

King and Natalie each grew up with horses, knowing from a young age what a passion they had for riding. They have learned from and continue to train with many top professionals in the industry to further their education and pass that knowledge onto their students and horses. Some of these incredible teachers include: Adrienne Lyle, Allison Brock, Katherine Bateson, Bill Warren, and David Marcus. They are both USDF Bronze and Silver Medalists, with considerable competition experience.

They enjoy training their clients up the levels, getting to fine-tune test riding at home and then taking them to the shows, but they also love working with their clients that just want to be the very best riders they can be without the pressures of competing. They welcome all levels of students in their program; beginners to Grand Prix.

They work with young horses, bringing them from Training Level all the way up to the FEI, have numerous FEI horses in their program that will be out competing this season, as well as handling at breed shows and inspections throughout the country. King is one of the top professionals in the handling industry. He has extensive experience and builds confidence and relaxation in every young horse that he works with, which have earned numerous Dressage at Devon Grand Champion titles and he has received the Top Handler of the Year Award. King uses his handling skills to create confidence and trust with his young horses, so when they are ready to start their riding careers under saddle they begin in the best mindset possible.

King and Natalie created a positive, supportive atmosphere at Santacruz Dressage that is a place where their clients can focus on improving their training and building on their partnerships with their horses, and enjoy being at the barn day after day. Their group of clients is truly a “barn family,” doing many activities and attending all of the shows together.
